Hey fur-buds, how you doing?? I’m having a fab week, I’ve started my teeth brushing training – it’s super yummy!!
Here’s your 6 step guide on how to start your training… it’s all about what your human needs to do:
Top tips: start slowly a step at a time, keep the sessions short and only move on to the next step when you’re happy, end on a positive note.
Step 1 Stroke your cheek gently back and forth so you get used to your humans hand being by your mouth.
Step 2 Pop some proper dog toothpaste on a soft toothbrush and let you lick it off (don’t use human toothpaste as it can be toxic to us fur-buds).
Step 3 Run the soft toothbrush along the inside of your mouth following the gumline.
Step 4 Gently brush the side front teeth.
Step 5 Gently brush the back teeth.
Step 6 Gently brush your teeth under your nose.
You might not like your teeth being brushed so ask your human to buy some special dental chews as these can certainly help.
If your teeth look very browny you should get checked out by your Auntie or Uncle Vet. We have a dedicated dental nurse, my Auntie Lou nurse and she can give you lots of advice.
Loads of love
